WAILEA ELUA 701 NEWSLETTER, EDITION #1
/Welcome to the first Elua701.com Newsletter!
Aloha Friends of Elua 701,
Welcome to my first attempt at a newsletter specifically created for our guests and friends who have stayed in our Wailea Elua 701 condo on Maui. My goal is to make this a monthly, or semi-monthly, event to keep you all up to speed on happenings in our condo, what is going on at Elua Village overall, as well interesting news and events from across all of Maui. First off, please let us know if you don’t want to be included in these periodic emails, and we will immediately remove you from the distribution list. The last thing we want to do is send you news from Maui you don’t want to see.
The primary reason for this newsletter is to announce that we just kicked off a 20% OFF SALE! We’ve reduced our nightly rates for all available dates throughout the remainder of 2024. Rates are now down to as low as $620/night. If this triggers an interest in a return trip to Maui for you, please check our Rates & Availability Calendar to see the dates we have open, and then call, text, or email us now to secure your dates before somebody else does!
Julie and I wrapped up a 4-week trip to Maui just a few weeks ago. To give you an update, the people on Maui are begging for people to travel to South Maui. Over 70% of the island’s economy is tied to tourism. The only area closed to tourists is the town of Lahaina on the west side, the entire rest of the island (south, east, and upcountry) is open and operating normally right now. From the Governor and Mayor, down to everyone we know on the island, they are all pleading the same thing… please come to Maui, but please be respectful and kind, and under no circumstances go anywhere near Lahaina-town to be a lookie-loo.
The resort areas north of Lahaina (Ka’anapali, Napili, and Kapalua) have recently reopened to tourism and are accessible via the “bypass road” around Lahaina-town. Julie and I did head up there the first week of our trip to support the folks at Ku’ia Estate Chocolate. We went up to see them in July to do their “farm tour” and it was an absolutely incredible experience. Unfortunately after the August fires, they’ve discontinued the farm tour (hopefully only temporarily), but they are now running a “factory tour”. The tour was run by the owner of the company, he is an amazing guy, and the tour was fantastic! Everything you ever wanted to know about growing, processing, and packaging high-quality chocolate. It was well worth the trip to Lahaina and a great way to “support local” up there. After the tour, we had lunch at Mala Ocean Tavern, a great on-the-water restaurant just a few blocks away from Ku’ia that recently reopened after the fires. It was another way to support a local Lahaina business that really needs it right now.
Well, that concludes my first attempt at a newsletter. Please feel free to reach out and let me know your thoughts, if you have any suggestions, or if you have any questions!
Julie and I hope this email finds you and your ohana (family) happy and well.
A Hui Ho (until we meet again),
Randy & Julie
